Here are some books and blogs I have personally found helpful and life giving as I walk this grief journey. As God brings more resources my way, I will be sure to share.
I’ll Hold You in Heaven by Jack Hayford
God gave me in this book following our first miscarriage. It is chalk full of Scripture and speaks lovingly and practically. It has been such a constructive and comforting book for me.
Letter to a Parent Grieving the Loss of a Child by John Piper
A dear friend of ours shared this blog with us shortly after losing Charlotte. What a thoughtful and healing read it was.
From My Mother’s Broken Heart by Stephanie Knabe
Here is an article written by my very own mom after Charlotte, her first grandchild, passed away. Her words are rooted in the hope of Jesus and are worth the read.
Grieving the Loss of a Loved One by Kathe Wunnenberg
This devotional book is both personal and comforting through the author’s own stories and through God’s Word.
Tear Soup by Pat Schwiebert & Chuck DeKlyen, illustrated by Taylor Bills
This illustrated book gets to the heart of the process of grieving. Metaphors often describe grief best, I’ve found, and this thoughtful story nails it. Don’t miss the pages at the end of the book that are full of excellent resources for those grieving and those helping those who are experiencing loss.
